mom & dad came to nebraska for a quick visit this weekend... so of course manny had to show them a few of the sights & sounds of lincoln.
^ first stop was the capitol. manny's political little soul gets so excited by traipsing through its hallowed hallways.
(side note... no word on manny's lost hand. he may be in line for a prosthesis one of these days.)
^ manny liked this fine gentleman's fedora.
^ standing bear! a bastion of nebraska & indian history. (manny wants to wear a feather just like him.)
^ manny was excited to find family in the hall of fame... ol' auntie mari sandoz.
^ looking out over lincoln.
^ checking out the law library...
^ ...and reading about the mccormick-manny case of 1855. (abraham lincoln was on the defense for a while before the trial was moved out of illinois, in case you were wondering. we knew you were.)
^ oof. manny needs to put on some muscle. less reading, more pumping iron.
^ and yet... manny has a samson complex.
^ manny-sized windows.
^ "caw! caw! rawwr!" manny wants to join the wilderness explorers' adventure club with russell (from "up").
^ the ol' capitol. despite its oddities, manny loves it.
^ well hello, mr. lincoln.
^ thinking about "up" made manny start thinking about movies, which made him start thinking about "singin' in the rain." can you spot manny doing his best impersonation?
^ momsy & popsicle
^ next up were the sunken gardens.
^ one of our faves. what is this? i don't know flowers... except for roses and daisies. those i've got down.
^ oh manny, always trying to stop and smell the flowers. and right next to the sign, too. tsk tsk.
^ madre.
^ and then there's the rose garden. (at least lincoln does its flowers well :] )
^ a manny-sized rose.
^ we liked this one.
^ we of course made time for a picnic in pioneers park (mostly just so dan could go see the buffalo and elk at the nature center).
^ mmmmexican coke.
^ mmmmexican coke.
^ "show me your 'i'm so excited to be here' face!"
^ ditto!
^ aaand ditto :) they put up with my camera in their faces all the time so nicely.
^ manny trying to be samson again... unfortunately (fortunately?) the pillar wouldn't budge.
(but on a fun historical note, these columns are from the old treasury building in dc... lincoln gave a speech between them. pretty shweet.)
come back to lincoln again soon, m & d - there are more places manny would like to take you :) thanks for coming!
Love, love, love your creativeness with Manny. Welcome to the fam, Manny :)
ReplyDeleteI think the unknown flower is a Dahlia?
ReplyDeleteI would suggest Manny put the bad arm in a pencil sharpener...then he could get a job picking up trash in the park. hmm...just a thought.
