delaware!
we stayed overnight in dover so that we could go to the beach first thing in the morning before we hit the road (jack) (heh). the plan was for sunrise, but when we realized the sun would rise at about 5:30, we scrapped that plan... you have to just about bribe me to do anything before 6 am. (probably only bribery with my own private island would work...) 8 am was better :)
^ the delaware legislative hall, which holds their house and senate. i would assume this is the smallest capitol building in america... but that's just a guess. at least we checked another capitol off our list, even though we didn't go inside!
^ i was surprised to see delaware looking like this. for some reason i wasn't expecting so many fields. you could definitely mistake parts of it for nebraska.
^ you even see sprayers driving down the road in delaware... are you sure this isn't the midwest??
^ THE OCEAN! oh heavenly day.
(okay, so this was only delaware bay... but that's ocean water right there, folks! it all becomes the atlantic eventually!)
^ cute little bowers beach... tiny town. i don't even think they had a place to buy postcards (which my touristy little self would've done).
^ these two seagulls look like they just had a fight and are sulking it off back to back...
^ these two seagulls look like they just had a fight and are sulking it off back to back...
^ perfect day for a sail.
^ so glittery! i love that about the ocean.
^ i know, too many pictures of the same thing. i don't even care. i'm just so mesmerized!
^ we had to look these up to figure out what on earth they were... horseshoe crabs! they're all over the atlantic coast, but apparently the most are found in delaware bay. i would NOT want to run into one of those in the water!
^ crabby.
^ two thumbs up. we like you, delaware.
^ so thrilled!
^ maybe one of the most worthwhile hour-long detours of our roadtrip :)
established 1734... those people had the right idea.
and now i have to go to bed and try not to think about the fact that i will wake up in a landlocked state. not that i'm bitter about that, or anything... :)
